In brief, this is what I know about the personality of the New Children, and though definitions varythere is some confusion about thisI hope to present a clear picture of who these children are. The wise children, indigos, star seedas you can tell, they come by many different namesare essentially a “new breed” of children, the "first fruits" of a new era in human consciousness evolution. In general, they display a “new” personality type, which consists of the following main features:
1). Wise beyond their years. Know who they really are and proclaim this knowing with confidence. May be referred to by others around them as, "Old head on young shoulders", "Wise head", be said to have "wise looking eyes", and the children themselves may claim to have "been here before", i.e. past or even future lives. (I include future as these children have a different, less linear concept of time--see point no.6).
2). Resistant to cultural conditioning and therefore often labelled “non-conformist”, “system busters”, or even “difficult”, “problem children”, and very often “ADHD. ” (Hyperactive and attention deficit). They usually ask "why?" and may regularly refuse to do things without an explanation for why they have to do it. This requires an honest, intelligent and creative response by the adults concerned, though of course this isn't always (or even often) the case, and instead many of these children may experience repeated negative reactions. This is made worse by the fact that they have problems with "absolute authority." Note, also, that many children with autism may also be indigo. I personally believe that these two "disorders" are related and that the two are part of the same continnum, i.e. hyperactives are under-stimulated whilst autistics are over-stimulated. In both cases socialisation, and therefore conditioning, is lessened. I came to this realisation during my summer school studying psychology a number of years back, and only recently came across possible confirmation.
3). Whereas ADHD children are said to lack empathy, these children on the other hand are (on average) more empathic than other children. Often considered humanistic and caring, helping others or others talking with them about their problems because the indigo understands and does not judge, even before the time when (according to developmental child psychology) they should still be "egotistical" and unable to see other's viewpoints. This may work against them though, as indigos are often more aware of other's true agendas than they are themselves, and others do not realise or want to admit this!
4). Unusually sophisticated values and beliefs which appear to originate from a spiritual philosophy not taught them by parents or other outside forces. Their spiritual knowing, experiences, beliefs, values, may be inconsistent with that of their immediate parents or society, although confirmation may come from "wider afield."
5). Often claim psychic and spiritual knowledge and experience, including telepathy, out of body (astral travelling), Near Death experiences, communicating with spirits, aliens, angels, or even "God." They also display other metaphysical abilities such as psychokinesis (affecting matter with the mind), seeing into the future, or channeling information from some other source.
6). Creative, right-brained (or left-right synthesised), and have an unusual but often advanced learning style. Problem finders and solvers, and lateral thinkers, they tend to see patterns or think in wholes (gestalt). They therefore see different, often "better", ways of doing things. May also display “photographic memory.” Related to this is their non-linear perception of time. They often live in the moment, the "now", which may lead to relatively poor planning and disorganisation, hence the misdiagnosis of "ADHD."
8). Claim past or future lives, even when they get older. In the past, children who have claimed past lives have not displayed the indigo characteristics and have forgotten about their past life memory by about the age of 11, only for the parent to talk of it. However, in the case of indigos, they often keep hold of these memories. Future lives are also included as indigos have a different concept - holistic rather than linear - about time, and therefore seem more likely to report future lives as well as life on "other planets."
7). Intelligent and/or extremely gifted or talented in at least one area, if not more. However, they may be misunderstood or not recognised for their gifts, or, even worse, labelled as havng some kind of disorder such as "ADHD." This is because they can be so "ahead of their time" that they may find it difficult to "fit in", and that their gift may be percieved by others as an "abnormality." Some have major problems, for e.g. their concept of time being so far removed from our own that they cannot understand or cope with our beliefs, and therefore have to have extra education to understand them! (Awakenings, Mary Rodwell).
8). A thirst for knowledge, new projects, visionary ideas, inventions, theories, philosophies. May get frustrated, though, if others do not share their vision or if they do not have the necessary resources to fulfil their visionary ambitions. This is related to the fact that they know what they came here to do, and appear to be "on a mission" as if driven by a dynamo. They may become very frustrated if they feel something is blocking their reason for having come here at this time. This may lead to increasing anger and "temper tantrums", again making them more likely to be perceived as "ADHD." #
STARCHILDREN - Differential Identification
Just as not all indigos have ADHD and not all those who have been diagnosed with ADHD are indigo, so too of "indigo" and "starchildren." Whilst star- children and adults can still be said to be indigos - because they possess the above traits - the difference that makes the differences is that "indigo starchildren" (as I call them), in addition, display the following traits:-
1). UFO and/or alien abduction or contact experiences.
2). Feeling like, or even experiencing, that they were "left behind" on planet earth by the alien beings.
3). Believing the aliens to be their co-parents or "real parents."
4). Talking of the planet or place where the aliens come from as being their true "Home", their second, or "other Home."
5). Believing therefore that they are, themselves, not 100% human but a "mixture."
6). Past life memories of Home and current memories of visits Home.

Finally, there are many more personality traits, but the above are the main ones and a good indication of this personality in a child or adult.
